Hear how God is working through Sein

Sein's Story

Hi. My name is Sein Kim. I’m from South Korea and am 22 years old. Thankfully, I was born into a Christian family. However, I didn’t live in Jesus.

I just lived like a non-believer who thought there was no God. In every worship service, I would sit like a dead body. I didn’t try to understand the Bible or the songs during worship. Sometimes, a few verses would catch my attention while in church, but that is it. I returned to my non-believer life in only a few days. And I didn’t read the Bible. Also, I mentioned my family is Christian but not perfect, not always happy and comfortable. In my thinking, my family was not helping me in any way that I could see. I had a poor attitude and a sad heart.

Although I didn’t try at all to stay close to God and often behaved like unbelievers, many people such as people of the church and my family were praying for me. I knew that people were praying, but I didn’t grasp that my life really had so many blessings. I came to Gainesville and started to attend Westside, but I didn’t know God personally yet.

However, after I began to study the Bible with a Life Group and then accept my Jesus, everything changed. You see, I was having significant problems in my life. I recognized that I needed to pray, confess my sin, and turn to a personal relationship with God through Jesus. I can see my past was full of hearing the Gospel but never choosing to follow Jesus personally.

Every decision I made and my background was in God’s plan. For example, if my family hadn’t accepted God, my parents might be divorced. I think this is so, and my pastor told me that might have been likely as well. Now in this new relationship with Jesus, I’m trying to learn how to stay close with God. I have started to read the Bible and to pray for people around me.

Very interestingly, my mom always told me that Psalms 121:1 was given in worship the day and time that I was born (I was born on a Sunday.). For so many years, I didn’t know what that truly meant, but now, I understand this verse clearly. To me, it means I should pursue only God. I now realize where my power comes from! Jesus Christ is my Support and my Helper. He has my eternal plan.  I have put my trust in Him.

Psalms 121:1-2

I raise my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth.
